Taken to the cleaners
My brother has been house and cat sitting while our parents are in Greece. When he moved my mom's car, it let out a screeching sound. Since he barely knows which end of a screwdriver is used to screw, he took it to the dealer for work.
They bent him over for $2216. They replaced the water pump, the belt tensioner, oil pan gasket, and a billion other things that mostly could have been done in the driveway.
Dealer service's goal is to get the car in perfect order. One of the best things you can do for yourself is to at least try to do the little things on cars. You'll feel better and save money.
